About Reflexology and Reiki

Reflexology is a natural, tactile alternative wellness therapy that works with precise reflex points on the feet, hands, face, and ears that represent a microcosm of the body, mirroring all organs, organ systems, glands, and other structures. Special palpation techniques are used that work on these precise points to bring a state of harmony and balance to clients receiving the work.

Reflexologists do not diagnose, treat, nor do we isolate organs or organ systems that are problematic – we work holistically with our clients incorporating body, mind, and spirit to facilitate healing from within. I say that reflexology is comparable to receiving a gentle full body massage (but you get to keep your clothes on) with many clients finding it more relaxing than a massage. Reflexology can help with plantar fasciitis, sciatica, digestive issues, migraines, chronic musculoskeletal pain, and much more.

Reiki (pronounced “ray-key”) is a gentle, holistic wellness technique through which the practitioner channels universal life force energy, the energy that radiates through all of creation, to clear energetic blockages and connect clients with their own healing energy on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual planes. Reiki is delivered through light touch, the hovering of hands, or from a distance to bring balance, relaxation, and healing to the recipients. I like to think of Reiki as “tangible prayer”, sending the best of intentions toward one’s whole self. It is complementary to medical and mental health treatments, as well as other healing modalities.

These modalities are a wonderful way to implement personal wellness into one’s life, and can assist with other conditions such as anxiety, fatigue, depression, stress, insomnia, stuck emotions, burnout, and the healing of emotional wounds.

What to expect

Reflexology and Reiki are both administered to a clothed client on a treatment table. They each promote relaxation, stress reduction, and improve one's overall feeling of well-being to promote healing on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels.

Reflexology will begin with a health history questionnaire that will ask you to list current and past health conditions, surgeries, and areas of concern. I will ask that you communicate with me during the session about any areas of sensitivity and I will ask questions as I encounter areas of congestion, which will help us explore the progress during your session.

Reiki will begin with a brief relaxation exercise to bring you into the present moment and open you to receive. You may or may not feel sensations throughout your session such as heat, coolness, tingling, undulating energies, or pressure. All of these sensations are normal and will pass.

You may feel energized, lighter, refreshed and with a better perspective after your session; you may also feel fatigued, develop a headache or nausea, or experience emotions surfacing. Most people feel relaxed and refreshed and are able to enjoy restful sleep in the days afterward. Any of this is normal and asks you to honor yourself where you are on your journey as you heal from the inside out.
